ABOUT
Yukie Spruijt, born in Curaçao and raised in the Netherlands, is a professional dancer now based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She graduated as a Certificate Student from The Ailey School in 2015, and since has gone on to perform works by several well-known choreographers in venues in New York City and Europe.
She began her dance training in classical ballet at The National Ballet Academy in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. After graduating she moved to New York City at age 17 to attend the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance and after attended three years at The Ailey School. During these years Yukie had a change to perform under the direction of choreographers such as Hans van Manen, Matthew Rushing, Francesca Harper, Amy Hall, Tracy Inman, Carlos Dos Santos and Pia Vinson.
Yukie has a range of experience with company work, being a former member of Awaken Dance Theater - directed by Rebecca Nodhturft and the Von Howard Project - directed by Christian Von Howard. Yukie currently dances for Amala Dianor Compagnie, where she is part of the creation ''The Falling Stardust''. The company is on tour throughout France during 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.
While dancing and growing her performance resume, Yukie continues to train in Paris and spread her knowledge and love of the arts and movement by taking class and teaching the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® methods.
